Setting up Email Client (Legacy Hosting)

The following guide is for legacy clients only. If your site is currently on one of our Shared Hosting services, please refer to the following Knowledge Base Article

Setting up on Android:

Configuring your custom email address on your mobile device:
Please note: The setup of the email account is described using the Samsung GALAXY S20 smartphone model with Android 10.0.1 as an example. The menu items listed below may differ on other Android models.

Step 1
Start the email app.

  • If you have not yet created an account in the email app, enter your email address and password. Then tap Log In 
  • If you already have an account in your email app, tap More > Preferences. From the menu, tap Add
    New Account
    .

Step 2
Enter your email address and password. Then tap Manual Setup.

Step 3
Select the desired account type. You can choose between the following account types:

  • POP3 account
  • IMAP account
  • Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

We recommend that you use the default setting IMAP account.

Step 4
Now enter your account data and make the required settings or specifications for the incoming and outgoing server. For more information, enter the following tables. Then tap Log In.

Choose IMAP under incoming mail server and enter the following details.
Hostname: imap.ionos.com
Port: 993
Username: Your email address is your username
Password: Your password provided by your account administrator

Enter the following details under outgoing mail server.
Hostname: smtp.ionos.com
Port 25
Username: Your email address is your username
Password: Your password provided by your account administrator
Click Save Button

 

Setting up on iPhone/iOS

  1. Go to iPhone settings option.
  2. Scroll down and tab Mail, Contacts and Calendars option.
  3. Choose Add Account available below iCloud tag and tab other 
  4. Choose Add Mail Account and enter the following details.
    Name: Your Name (Whatever you want)
    Email: Your email address is your username
    Password: Your password provided by your account administrator
    Description:
    Click Next Button
  5. Choose IMAP under incoming mail server and enter the following details.
    Hostname: imap.ionos.com
    Username: Your email address is your username
    Password: Your password provided by your account administrator
  6. Enter the following details under outgoing mail server.
    Hostname: smtp.ionos.com
    Username: Your email address is your username
    Password: Your password provided by your account administrator
    Click Save Button
  7. Go to settings > Your account > Advanced and enter the following details under incoming settings.
    Use SSL: Yes
    Authentication: Password
    Server Port: 993
  8. Enter the following details under outgoing settings.
    Use SSL: Yes
    Authentication: Password
    Server Port: 465
  9. Congratulations, Now you can send and receive email on your iPhone device.
